When I was a part of a newly-formed marketing team for the cash back app, Shopmium, we consulted a financial advisor who mainly works with Millennial women and asked her, “What’s the worst financial advice you frequently hear?”

She said, “I hate it when advisors tell young people to just give up small things, like a latte from Starbucks or a meal via DoorDash, in order to afford major purchases, like a house or a car or even a luxury vacation. That doesn’t work. Much more realistic—and fun.
